Biography

Hello and Namaste! I am Binayak Lohani, an incoming Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. I completed BE in Aerospace Engineering from IOE Pulchowk Campus in Nepal. As a passionate individual with a curios mind, I'm eager to dive deep into the world of fluid physics, with a special focus on atmospheric flows.

During my undergraduate years, I embarked on a path of exploration and discovery. Engaging in several internships proved to be transformative experiences that shaped my academic interests and career aspirations. These internships provided me with invaluable opportunities to work alongside brilliant minds and academicians, exposing me to the exciting worlds of fluid mechanics and theoretical physics. When I'm not busy with research or studying, I love finding inspiration in the world around me. Nature has a way of captivating my senses, and I enjoy spending time outdoors, taking in the beauty of the environment. Exploring the natural world reminds me of the interconnectedness of everything and fuels my curiosity to learn more about the complexities of fluid physics in atmospheric flows.

My primary research interest revolves around turbulence in atmospheric flows. I am deeply curious about the chaotic yet beautiful nature of turbulent systems and how they shape our everyday weather experiences. I'm also passionate about exploring ways to harness the power of atmospheric flows for renewable energy, a cause that aligns with my commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly technologies.
